Scientific Students' Associations (TDK)

A research opportunity and a forum for student publications of high academic quality that go beyond the curriculum, are offered in the framework of the so-called Scientific Students' Associations ("TDK", which stands for 'Tudományos Diákkör' in Hungarian) and their annual conferences, called the Scientific Students’ Associations Conference The aim of the conferences is to support the academic and professional careers of participating students, and the development of scientific thinking and research. Papers are prepared by students with the help of a consultantand presented in sections similar to academic/scientific conferences. Papers and presentations are evaluated by a professional jury according to the requirements and standards for academic/scientific publications. Papers that have been previously submitted as part of the requirements in any subject (including a previously submitted Project Work and Thesis) with unchanged content and without further improvement cannot be submitted to the conference.
A student’s work consists of two parts:
- Identifying an intriguing research question with the help of an ELTE consultant and presenting the answers in a 20-80-page paper using appropriate methodology,
- Participation in the conference, where the student will present the results in a presentation.
We encourage those interested in the project to contact a relevant instructor as soon as possible. If you are unable to find a consultant or do not know who to contact on a particular topic, the following colleagues can provide guidance on the main topics:
