The National Higher Education Scholarship is designed to reward students’ previous exceptional academic and professional accomplishments and to encourage their outstanding future performance. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of a competitive application. 

At the Faculty of Economics (GTK), only students who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for the scholarship: state-financed and self-financed full-time students who have been registered for at least two semesters and have earned minimum 55 credits, and their home faculty is the GTK.

The National Higher Education Scholarship is awarded for a full academic year, i.e. for 10 months, and the monthly amount of the scholarship is HUF 40,000.

The maximum number of students the Faculty of Economics can nominate for the award is 37 (24 bachelor’s and 13 master’s students).

Students can submit their applications via Neptun between 8:00 a.m. on 2 June and 8:00 a.m. on 3 July 2025. Go to Administration/Requests and choose the request called ”Nemzeti Felsőoktatási Ösztöndíj – 2025/26” / ”National Higher Education Scholarship – 2025/26”.

Applicants whose weighted average does not reach 4.00 (the Call itself contains the calculation method used to determine the weighted average) and who have not completed all the courses they registered for in the spring semester of AY 2024/2025 by 4 July 2025 will not be nominated for the Scholarship. In addition to one’s academic performance, scores will be given for language proficiency, professional, research, public, sports, social, cultural, and other activities. These scores together determine the ranking of the applicants. (If an applicant’s student status is terminated or is suspended during the academic year, he/she will lose his/her eligibility for the remaining amount of the scholarship.)
