Information on Tuition Fee Payment, Deadlines, and Refunds for Prospective and Enrolled, as well as Summer University Students.

Paying your tuition fees

SELF-FINANCED STUDENTS

The tuition fee payment is EUR based and should be made according to the guidelines found on the Quaestura website, under “FAQ, Fees and Funds. Enrolled students can find further information on the topic on the page dedicated to international students in Moodle.  

Payment by cash is not possible.

SUMMER UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

If you are a Summer University student, the payment is to be made by bank transfer to:

GUEST STUDENTS 

Fee-waiver exchange students studying at ELTE GTK within the framework of institutional bilateral co-operations have no tuition fee payment obligations. 

If you are a non-fee-waiver guest student with a special guest student status, please contact the Faculty of Economics International Office at incoming@gtk.elte.hu.

Reduced tuition fee

Currently, ELTE GTK offers no scholarships. The only available fee-reduction is for students transferring to ELTE GTK if they wish to apply for credit transfer without enrolment in courses in their first semester: 1500 EUR/semester. For payment details, see above.

TUITION FEE REFUND

Tuition fees will only be refunded if you are able to justifiably prove that your visa application (if you are a new student) or your request for the extension of the residence permit (if you are already in Hungary and/or are a continuing student) has been rejected by the Hungarian authorities. In such cases, approximately 85% of the Tuition Fee you have transferred will be refunded. The exact amount also depends on bank costs and the varying EUR/HUF change rate. As a rule, the entire refunding process takes about 10–12 weeks. For a refund, fill in the Refund Data Sheet.

Payment deadlines

The autumn and spring semester tuition fees are due by 15 October and by 15 March, respectively. If, due to mitigating circumstances, you are unable to make your payment by the above-mentioned deadline, you must submit a request in Neptun. Please note that requests concerning the terms of the tuition fee payment are assessed on a case-by-case basis and the submission of the request alone does not guarantee that it will be accepted by ELTE GTK or be accepted without changes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Students whose tuition fee is not paid by the initial or the requested and approved extended deadline, will not be able to take exams at the end of the given semester.
