Afternoon Hike to Hármashatár-hegy (in a slightly unusual manner)
After meeting fellow hikers at the end stop of Bus 11 (called Nagybányai út), we will walk past the most popular spectacles of the capital’s 2nd district, including the Apáthy cliff and the Lion cliff, and will climb to the top of Újlaki Hill between some WW2 shelters. From the hill, the Hármashatár-hegy lookout tower is only a stone’s throw away. After breathing some fresh air there, we will head south to have a look at another part of the city from the Árpád lookout tower. The end stop of Bus 11, where a surprise is in store for all hikers, is only 800 meters from here.
We are particularly looking forward to the participation of first-year students. Do not hesitate to come along even if you have not made friends at GTK yet. This hike will allow you to make friends with international and Hungarian students who also like spending time in nature.

Distance and difficulty level:
10km, difference in altitude: 400 metres, length of hike: 3-3.5 hours. Highest point: Guckler Károly lookout tower on Hármashatár-hegy: 495 m. After sunset, headlamps will be provided.
Conditions for participation:
Registration by both students and their guests is required. Fill in this form to register and if you do so, you will be notified about later hikes as well. (Data processing is subject to the data protection rules of Eötvös Loránd University and the Faculty of Economics.)
Rain day (alternative later day):
Should the weather forecast be pessimistic, you will be informed about any changes by 6 p.m. on Wednesday. If necessary, the hike will be postponed to Friday, 29 September.

Meeting point: Nagybányi út end stop of Bus 11.
End point: also the end stop of Bus 11 at (Nagybányai út).
The other end stop of Bus 11 is at Batthyányi tér, which you can easily reach by Metro line 2 (red line) from Astoria (near our campus) or by trams 4 and 6 from Blaha Lujza tér (also near our campus). It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the Nagybányai út end stop from Batthyányi tér.
Practicalities:
- Bring along some snacks and something to drink.
- Bring along a plastic bag for any waste you may have to save the environment.
- Comfortable and sturdy shoes are recommended. Sneakers are OK but no sandals/flipflops, please. Bring along a sweater too as it may get chilly after the sun goes down.
- No toilets along the route.
