Erasmus+ and guest students
Before the mobility
Within this section, you can find information on your Before the mobility tasks. Bear in mind that detailed information on the current semester is always available on our International Students Moodle page of the given semester (accessible with your IIG after enrolment).
DOCUMENTS
Erasmus students whose sending institutions are located in the EU/EEA must submit several documents (e.g., the Learning Agreement) and meet several deadlines. Always follow the instructions of your home university and the guidance received from ELTE GTK in the form of emails.
Guest students (whose sending institution is located in a country outside the EU/EEA) might also need some documents.

Mentors and fellow students
Student Union
We hope that you are looking forward to embarking on your Erasmus mobility at our institution. To start getting to know your fellow incoming students, the ELTE GTK Student Union creates a WhatsApp group for incoming students every semester. Do not forget that you can also ask questions in this group, so we highly recommend that you join it by clicking here.
Additionally, the Faculty’s Student Union has a Facebook and Instagram page as well where you can learn about events and obtain useful information during the semester.
ESN – GTK
We highly recommend that you request a mentor who will support you throughout your stay in Budapest. In order to request a mentor, please register to Papaya (ESN), also available on Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store). Log in with Facebook (please choose Facebook, as this way you will receive your profile immediately and will not require our approval, which would cause considerable delays). After registering, the responsible person will be able to match you with an English-speaking mentor for your stay. Whenever you have a question, you can contact your mentor who can help you with the essentials of student life and local infrastructures.
If you have any further questions considering the mentor system, feel free to contact the ESN ELTE Faculty Coordinator at gtk@elte.esn.hu or visit the following webpage for more information: Erasmus Student Network (ESN) (elte.hu)
LEGAL STAY IN HUNGARY
You can find more information on visa/residence permit/registration on the following ELTE webpage: Visa procedure
Students with EU/EEA nationality should consult the following subpage: Registration card for EEA Nationals
Students with non-EU/EEA nationality should check the following subpage: Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies for non-EEA nationals
Students with non-EU/EEA nationality who hold an EU residence permit should go to the following subpage: For Non-EEA Citizens with EU Residence Permits
More information on extending the residence permit is available here: Extension of residence permit
If you have any questions or problems, please contact visa@elte.hu.
HOUSING
Note that the Dormitory Centre and Housing Office are managed at university, rather than at faculty level. Therefore, you are advised to contact them directly.

INSURANCE
It is important for you to have valid health insurance throughout your stay in Hungary. ELTE GTK does not require a particular insurance policy to be purchased, however, it is your responsibility to take out insurance before your arrival.
Students who have a European Health Insurance Card (blue card), are advised to have some additional insurance as well, as this card can only be used for emergency cases and it does not cover all the medical treatment you any need (e.g. dental treatment is not included).
