FINN€CT: new student club makes impressive start

FINN€CT is the first international student club at ELTE GTK for Finance & Accounting. FINN€CT is committed to bridging the gap between academic learning and the real-world finance industry. The student club is ideal for those interested in investments, accounting, or broader financial markets. It offers various opportunities to gain practical experience beyond the classroom, such as interactive workshops and real-life case studies. FINN€CT also fosters a vibrant community by providing exclusive networking events, competitions, and collaborative initiatives that connect like-minded students with professionals. At FINN€CT, it is all about learning by doing and having a community to grow with along the way.
On the 1st of April, the first event is organized with the presence of Alexandra Moldovanu, who recently qualified as an ACCA professional with nearly seven years of experience in the assurance industry. As an Audit Manager at EY- a top global firm offering audit, tax, and consulting services - she brings a solid blend of technical knowledge and hands-on expertise to the event and gives everyone a real, behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work in audit, from daily tasks to landing a role at a Big 4 firm. One highlight was the difference between internal and external audits, not just in work but in skills and mindset. There was also a great discussion on why some professionals choose auditing over traditional accounting and how getting an ACCA certification can really boost your career. To keep things interactive, students joined in a teamwork activity to tackle a mini case that challenged them to think like real auditors and explore the future of the industry. The event was an eye-opening, engaging session that gave useful insights into an audit career.
Manczak Zalan, a second-year student at ELTE GTK, found the event really insightful, inspiring, and definitely worth attending. This is how he summarised his experience:
“When I first saw that ELTE had launched its first finance-focused club, I got excited about the possibilities - the guest lecturers, the case studies, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.
The first event featured an experienced auditor, and it was incredibly insightful, especially since I had no prior exposure to auditing or consulting. I really enjoyed hearing her stories and experiences at the firm before we moved on to a collaborative case study.
It was particularly valuable to have someone from auditing walk us through the essential steps — it helped me understand a different approach compared to what I’m used to during my internship.
Lately, I’ve been actively exploring different career paths, and this lecture was a great step in that direction. I’m already looking forward to the next guest lecturers!”
